A Florida mother was arrested and charged after a police officer noticed a baby and a toddler by themselves in an unlocked car parked outside a bar. Jamie Leigh Gunn, 33, was charged with child neglect and booked in the Brevard County Jail Sunday, according to West Melbourne Police. Gunn was inside Annie's Bar on Minton Roadin West Melbourne, Florida, when the officer, who was conducting a routine business patrol in the parking lot of the bar, found the woman's eight-month-old baby and two-year-old toddler asleep in the backseat of an SUV. Police located Gunn, the vehicle's registered owner, inside the bar visiting a friend. An investigation revealed she had been inside the bar for at least 20 minutes while "having no regard for her children who were left unattended," police wrote on Facebook. "When Gunn learned law enforcement was outside with her vehicle, she was more concerned about going to jail, than the welfare of her children," the police department wrote. The two children were turned over to a family member and the Department of Children and Families was contacted to conduct a follow-up investigation. According to police, Gunn has a criminal history that includes contempt of court, forgery, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while her license was suspended.
